It's getting to be that time of year again: the weather is tempting us with a bit of sun and warmth, exams and final essays are looming overhead, and summer is so close but still so far away. With all of this comes the first thoughts of summer jobs! For a lot of us, finding a summer job is almost a full time job in itself! I remember the nerve wracking applications, cover letters, and interviews but also the relief of finding a great summer job. My favourite summer job has been (and always will be) working for York's RED Zone, and guess what? We're hiring!
The RED Zone is looking for a team of fun, friendly, helpful, and creative students to help us welcome incoming students to York University both online and in person. Our big change of mandate this summer is the development of an online community of bloggers to share experiences and chat with students who are not able to get to York as readily as some other students (i.e international students). Check out our website for more background on the RED Zone and a full job description of a RED Zone Student Ambassador (RSA)!
Applications have already started to come in and I cannot stress how important it is to read the application instructions! We're not looking for the same old resume and cover letter but a creative writing sample on why you would make an awesome RSA.
You can contact myself or anyone at the RED Zone with any questions about the position!
If you don't stay at York for the summer, or are also looking for a job for the fall these departments are also hiring:
-Health Ed is looking for Peer Health Educators, click here for details.
-York Intramurals is hiring Intramural Staff. To apply bring your resume and a cover letter to the Intramural Office or email sarahmc@yorku.ca by February 29th, 2012. Visit Tait McKenzie gym for more information and the original postings
-The Centre for Human Rights is hiring for the Diversity Peer Education Team! Find out more here.
For more opportunities both in the summer and fall, keep an eye on the Career Center website!
