That's What A Blog Is?

When I was given the task of creating my own blog I was incredibly nervous.  Not because I have nothing to blog about (I obviously have lots I would like to say.) No, I was nervous because I didn't really know what a blog was or what it did.  Okay, I knew BASCIALLY what a blog is (I'm not completely clueless) but I didn't think I had a good grasp of blogger culture.  I told my boss and he told me to think about blogs that I read, why do I read them, what keeps people coming back, etc.  Well this was extra perplexing; I replied that I don't read blogs.  Apparently I was wrong.  After a bit of guidance I discovered that I indeed did not really know what a blog was becuase I had been reading them without realizing it.  However, here's a list of some blogs I like and why.

1. The "Yeah Well I Pay Attention To World News Too" Blog - Perez Hilton (www.perezhilton.com)
I have a little thing I like to call "Small Town Syndrome" aka I'm a gossip queen.  I love it, it's a terrible trait I know, but I'm naturally nosy and inquisitive (at least that's how I'm going to justify it.)  Perez Hilton keeps me updated on celebrity gossip (which is far less destructive than gossiping about your friends, so I'm really being a good person.) Plus, there's sometimes really interesting world news in a reader friendly format.  I'm really not the CNN type (well, maybe the RidcuList, but thats it.)

2. The "She Is My Idol" Blog - Jenna Marbles (www.jennamarblesblog.com)
I discovered Jenna Marbles along with the rest of the world through her video "How To Trick People Into Thinking You're Good Looking" which was brilliant (as a satire NOT as a real instructional video, just so we're clear.) She is such a successful blogger that she has a wikipedia entry about her (which is now my new life goal.)  Jenna Marbles may sound a little ridiculous at first but this girl is S-M-A-R-T and she's relateable to a university student.  And I love her dogs. I'm just sayin'...

3. The "My Friends Are Cooler Than Your Friends" Blog -  The Skinny Jeans and Starbucks Chronicle (http://karenslatte.wordpress.com)
So Karen is a York U grad making her way in this crazy city we call home.  Karen and I actually lived together in residence and she was one of my first friends here even when I didn't want friends.  So my obvious bias aside, her blog is hilarious. She's literally telling you about her life and the crazy things that happen to her.  She's done an amazing job on this blog even though she has a full time job and life outside the blogosphere and I'm pretty much in awe of her talent.  Karen's blog makes me laugh, makes me cry; it's even better than 'Cats'
Karen, Me, and Lisa, 2 of my best friends in first year.  Lisa should start a blog now.
